The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant.

So a few notes on the recent pages, the art, and the state of the comic.

First off, Akila, technically speaking, should be naked in the art. As this page has shown, there’s a reason for her humanlike anatomy, beyond the fact outside the comic it’s easier to draw. However due to a combination of factors, I didn’t really want to draw any actual nudity in the comic. The main reason is naked people are really hard to draw, and due to the style of the comic, I think it’d look a bit weird. Secondly, it doesn’t really serve a purpose, art wise. Yes, Akila is an attractive character, but her being naked in this scene is more to show a sense of other-worldliness, akin to how commonly aliens aren’t depicted wearing anything. It wouldn’t really add anything, and would personally take away from the art.

The second topic is the release schedule. It’s kind of obvious it’s taking me two weeks to make a page now, and there’s a few reasons why. However, the main one is the fact the comic pages are much more complicated than they used to be. Even the opening pages of chapter 15 had around 50 layers, while the one above has just shy of 100. Because of this, there’s a lot that has to be drawn, over and over, and that’s also more things that can have mistakes in them. A lot more time is spent now working out what is going to go in each panel, how it’s going to look, etc, and that adds more time. I would like to get these out more often, but I also don’t want to push myself too hard, and end up with results I am not happy with. Again, I’m likely the only person who cares about the schedule of the releases this much, but it being weekly was a point of personal pride for me. I still would like to, though, but I do hope you can understand where I’m coming from.

See you in one week or two.
