Chapter 5 is almost over. Less than ten pages to go, and then we get to chapter six (obviously).

I’ve been working on updating the file database, so people can get more background into the comic’s universe and all that stuff. Check it out sometime. (The page for Yggdrasil is coming along well.)

Oh, and I made a little video of the opening from the show Attack on Titan, but it has my comic’s theme instead of the actual AoT theme song. (Explanation: There’s an internet meme of syncing the Attack on Titan theme with the intros to other shows (The Simpsons, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, etc), and I tried using my comic’s theme instead. It worked surprisingly well, so I made the video described above.)

On the topic of videos, I think I found a suitable theme song for Theo. It’s A Girl Like You by The Smithereens, and I can honestly picture him singing it about Katrina. Here’s a link to the music video.

Ok, lore time. Here’s an explanation for why Akila acts flirtatious and dresses like she does: Nereids are not supposed to have relationships with humans, due to their attitudes about us and our expansionary tendencies / pollution. Nereids are also very emotional, and can get very attached to people they hang out with, and for this reason, contact with us is very limited due to the fear of developing a long – term attachment to a human, which goes against everything that they stand for. Normally, the only long term relationships Nereids have are with other Nereids, as any human that ends up in a relationship with a Nereid is killed off rather quickly, after being cared for by the Nereid for a few days.

Because of the fact Akila is basically exiled from her group of Nereids (not spoiling anything but she only escaped execution because the queen allowed her to leave secretly, as they were in a relationship, and the queen didn’t want to kill someone she had feelings for.) Due to the characteristic of Nereids growing attached to people, she badly desires affection, but knows she isn’t allowed to have any.  Hence her attitude of being flirtatious, because anything more than a short kiss would be too intimate. She’s really skirting the line due to how close she is with Kat, (I mean, they share a bed), but due to certain factors (which I’m keeping secret for the time being) she can get away with it for now.

Also the above does not confirm that Katrina and Akila are in a relationship / are a couple. It only confirms that Akila has not gone past the sexual / romantic / platonic limits of nereid – human interaction of in regards to her friendship with Kat.
