Ok - I lied in the text below. Vi and Ezra are 1/2 siblings. They have different fathers. VERY different fathers.

This, in my opinion, is possibly THE WORST social mistake you can make. And yes, it’s happened to me:

Person – *uses male pronoun*

Me – shouldn’t it be *female pronoun*

Person – I’m a guy.

Me – … I’m going to cry in a corner from embarrassment now.

(Note: if anyone takes issue with this, I will remove it. The last thing I want is people thinking I’m transphobic.)

Oh, and just in case you couldn’t tell, Violet and Ezra are siblings. They’re Khmer (Cambodian) , not Indian (as in India) or Native American. The reason for their darker skin tone (Khmer people have comparatively light skin) is because they were originally Indian, but Khmer fit better (I’ll explain in chapter 5, when you hear Violet’s backstory. (It’s not for the faint of heart.)) She’s is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters – (she’s passed up Akila, my previous favorite) because: A. She’s cool, B. She’s fun to draw (which stinks, she’s a pain to draw) , and C: I LOVE the way she speaks. (She will, trust me.) That painting is real, and it’s a lot more creepy than my rendition. Here’s a link. (It’s by Zdzisław Beksiński).  By the way, I LOVE drawing night city scenes. That last panel is one of my favorites so far.
