Good news – I should be getting my laptop back by next week, so the comic will return to the previous look. Now that I think about it, I do kinda like the look of Katrina with the realistic body and cartoonish head. Maybe I’ll keep doing that.
I’ve done quite a bit side drawings this week, but I haven’t colored them yet. I drew one of the next character to show up (she’ll be here in roughly 10 – 15 pages.), and another rather cute one of Katrina holding Akila while the two of them are asleep. It’s ADORABLE, as befitting their EXTREMELY PLATONIC relationship. Will color and post next week. Probably.
A bit of extra lore today. So, as you know, most of the population in comic are extremely afraid / prejudiced against mages – but I wanted to explain WHY. I’ve said magic slowly drives the holder insane, and everybody, given enough time, will snap and just go bezerk. Because of this, most people see mages as homicidal maniacs, and that fear is one reason the number of magic wielders is so low – they’ve been hunted down out of fear. Magical powers won’t be of much help when you’re shot in the back of the head with a 5.56 mm bullet. So, at the time of this comic taking place, most mages are either A.Dead, or B. In hiding. This isn’t helped by the ability of mages that HAVE gone bezerk tend to go after other, more stable mages. (If you couldn’t tell, the lady on page 5 – 19 was Andromeda’s mother,,who was killed by one of these rogue magic users.) The more you USE magic, the more likely you are to snap – but Andromeda is weak for a mage, so she’s not in much danger of turning.
Also I received my first piece of fanart today! It’s of Violet (if you couldn’t tell) and I am quite impressed.
