First things first, this is page number 99! That’s right, next week’s page will be the 100th page of TNF! In order to celebrate, I’m going to put out a design for a poster I might actually make, and have the first major fight scene of the comic! (Wish me luck, fight scenes are tough.)

Other notes about the comic: One thing that’s really hard to do is to get characters that are drawn without pupils (Vi, Octavian, Chris, Etc) to show emotion. Since the eyes are the most expressive part of my characters, it can be a really serious challenge to show how the characters are feeling. For example, with characters such as Theo or Kat, making them show fear is easy as making the pupil small and slightly opening their mouth. With Octavian, that’s harder, due to him not showing his pupils – and don’t get me started on Violet. (Luckily she’s fairly emotionless so that makes it a bit easier.

On the style of the drawing, you might have noticed Violet’s hair has little spikes in it now, much like Theo’s. I’m working on making my characters, (especially the women) have more lifelike figures, as you can see with Violet, Kat and Akila having visible hip structures instead of just a stick for a body. I’ve also been working on my forearms, and I feel those are coming along well enough.

As a final note, I’ve figured out what Akila’s dress for an upcoming dance scene is going to look like. Unfortunately, the drawing needs a bit of work, so here’s a drawing of a random slime girl instead.(It’s the poster behind Violet in the seventh panel.)
