Don't ask how her eyes generate light.

So yeah, if it wasn’t obvious by the blank eyes, Theo’s dealing with one of those “lost” that were mentioned back in chapter 5. I tend not to look at the old pages that often, as they don’t look as good as the new ones and are a little embarassing, to be honest. Speaking of chapter 5, I’ve been asked mutliple times why it’s so much longer than the other chapters, and the answer is pretty simple. Book One was always meant to contain chapters 1 – 7, with Theo gaining his powers in the last chapter, but I realized that Theo and Kat needed a scene together to establish them as a possible couple, so the market scene got put in. I probably should have split chapter 5 in half, and made chapters 6 and 7 one chapter, but live and learn.  There was originally going to be a scene where some giant fish monster guy attacks Kat and Edythe saves her, but I felt it was out of place, and would have been outside my drawing abilities at the time. Also, I know it’s a generic horror thing to make a humanoid monster appear a little off by making them tall and skeletal, but the lost above would have already been quite tall, with her transformation only maybe adding a few inches onto her height. She has a backstory, but it would ruin one of the biggest mysteries of the comic, so I’m not saying another word.

Also, time for my random game recommendation thing!
The game I’m talking about today is called DUSK, which is a modern game made in the style of classic 90s shooter games like Quake. You go from location to location, (my guess would be somewhere in the eastern midwest, near the Appalachian mountains), encountering cultist, chainsaw wielding lumberjacks, homicidal scarecrows,  and other unholy horror – esque creatures. Why are these cultists here? What are they worshipping? What dark secrets does the abandoned town of Dusk hold, and what evils lurk beneath the ground? That’s what you’re trying to find out. Granted, I haven’t beaten the game yet, but what I’ve played so far has been a blast. The fights are fluid, the enemies are creative, and if you (like me) enjoy poking around in a game’s world to see if the developers hid something, you’ll be happy to know every level has at least one secret, usually consisting of weapons, health, and other stuff the average player character would find useful – but sometimes there’s a few extra hidden jokes and references as well.  You can get it on steam here.

Also, below is a picture of Violet I drew, based on the art of her from page 4 – 3. Click here for masked version.*

See you next week.

Chest is still a bit big, but I don't really mind.
