Chapter 10, Page 14: Know when to fold ’em
Hey guys! Hope everyone had a good week! My week was ok, not much has been going on in my life overall. I have school starting next week, but overall it shouldn’t impact the comic at all.
This page was kinda hard to draw, due to the poses and perspective in panels 2 and 3. I feel it ended up alright though. Katrina, Octavian and the other characters should be back in the comic soon. Due to the varying and evolving style of the comic, the appearance of the characters changes rather frequently, so it’s often quite hard to keep the appearance of the characters the same. For example, I’m still not 100% sure how muscular of a girl Katrina is, or how thin Violet is.(I tried drawing a more muscular Katrina, and I think it turned out quite well, so I put that below.) Most of the characters have a specific drawing that I feel is the most accurate picture of them. Also, there’s something about the comic overall I thought I’d mention. As both a storywriter and someone who enjoys reading stories, I’ve always been someone who cares much more about the characters in a story than the events that take place – I can easily put up with a mediocre plot if the characters are engaging and easy to identify with. This also goes along with the comic itself; I know it may not be the most exciting, action-packed story ever, but I feel the main focus is less the events and more the characters and the relationships between them.
Thanks for reading, and see you next week.
