Part 2 Prologue – 3: A Touch of Evil
So yeah, he’s not going to be in the comic anymore. Sorry if you liked the look of him. The lady, however, will most certainly be back. These three pages have been a blast to draw, and I’m kind of sad we’re going back to more pages of Theo bumbling around. Just FYI: Before somebody gets upset for me making my hero become magical and really OP in the story, let me say this: He’s still one of the weakest characters in the comic. For one, he’s pretty weak magic wise, and also having magical powers is useless if you don’t know how to use them. I’ve also taken a few other precautions to stop him becoming overpowered, but I can’t go into those at this moment.
I did a bit of side art over the weekend. This one is a crossover (non-canon, sorry) of Akila (from my comic) with another fish-girl (namely Miranda, from the game Monster Prom). I’ve never played it, but I thought a crossover drawing between two girls who reminded me of each other would be kinda neat. Here it is:
I think this is also the first time I’ve drawn Akila using a full-body poseable model, and I really liked the end result. Akila’s lack of a navel looks kinda weird, though. Also, drawing the handholding in the middle was a pain, as Akila only has three fingers and a thumb, making me have to do a bunch of finagling to get it to look right (as any reference photo I could find would have four fingers and a thumb.) I think Miranda turned out really good too. This isn’t the first time I’ve used Miranda as a reference / inspiration for Akila – The one artwork I did of Akila reclining on a couch was based off of some art of Miranda from the game. Note: Here is what Miranda looks like in the game (not the photo I just mentioned, just her sprite.)
